The official list of operating systems that you can install this software to is Windows 11, 10, 8, 7, Vista, XP, and 2000.Įxtending the system partition might not work for you For example, you can't make the bootable media program that they support unless you pay for it. The only downfall I can see with this program is that a few of the features require that you upgrade to a paid edition. You can also view the properties of any drive, to see its NT object name, GUID, file system, sector size, cluster size, partition number, physical sector number, total number of hidden sectors, and more. If you have to reboot for anything to take effect, IM-Magic Partition Resizer will tell you so. Then, when you're happy with the results, use the big Apply Changes button to put everything into action. As you perform these actions, you'll see the program update in real time to reflect them so that you can see how it will look when everything has been applied. You can use it to move, resize (even the active one), and copy partitions, as well as change the drive letter and label, check the partition for errors, delete and format partitions (even with a custom cluster size), convert NTFS to FAT32, hide partitions, and wipe all that data off.Īll of those actions are extremely easy to find because you just have to right-click the device you want to manipulate. IM-Magic Partition Resizer installs quickly and is super simple to use. Some features only work if you upgrade to the paid version This means you might sometimes try to open something in the free version only to be prompted to buy the professional one. One thing I don't like about this program is that several features are only available in the full, paid version, but are still clickable. You can also password protect EaseUS Partition Master, hide partitions, upgrade the system drive to a larger bootable drive, merge partitions, defragment a drive, and copy Windows to a different hard drive. The list of pending operations is even shown on the side of the program so you can clearly see what will happen when you apply them. I particularly like this feature so things like expanding and copying partitions can be done in one swipe instead of having to reboot between each operation, thus saving tons of time. Modifications exist virtually, which means you're only seeing a preview of what will happen if you save the changes, but nothing is actually set in stone yet. Changes don't take effect until you click a certain button. Managing the size of a partition in EaseUS Partition Master is dead simple thanks to their easy-to-use slider that lets you drag left and right to shrink or expand a partition.Ĭhanges you apply to a partition with this program aren't actually applied in real-time. This download takes up a few hundred megabytes of space-much larger than most of the other programs on this list-so it may take some time to download. You have to open each disk separately from a drop-down menu, which is actually easy to miss if you're not sure where to look. GParted runs entirely from a bootable disc or USB device, but it still has a full user interface like a regular program, so it's not at all difficult to use.Įditing a partition's size is easy because you can choose the exact size of the free space before and after the partition, using either a regular text box or a sliding bar to visually see the size increase or decrease.Ī partition can be formatted in any one of several file system formats, some of which include EXT2/3/4, NTFS, FAT16/32, and XFS.Ĭhanges GParted makes to disks are queued up and then applied with one click. Because it runs outside the operating system, pending changes don't require a reboot, which means you can get things done that much quicker.Ī small but particularly annoying issue is that it doesn't list all the available partitions on one screen like most other free disk partitioning programs. If the almonds begin to brown too much, cover the tart with aluminum foil and continue baking until done.
“That’s what it feels like to me when I look at somebody framed in a 4:3 frame,” Arnold told Filmmaker Magazine in 2012. Director Andrea Arnold’s two most recent films, Wuthering Heights (2011) and American Honey (2016), were both shot in 4:3, which she calls a “very respectful” frame. The old-fashioned framing can also be used to invoke a sense of nostalgia, focus on a character’s face, or even heighten the feeling of claustrophobia or isolation in a scene. “It’s also a better shape for photographing vertical objects, such as a lighthouse tower.” “It’s an old-timey aspect ratio, so on a very surface level, it helps make the movie look old,” The Lighthouse director Robert Eggers told the LA Times in 2019. Although all of these movies would stand as remarkable achievements, no matter how they were displayed, the aesthetic benefits offered by 4:3 have helped differentiate them in a crowded market. A Ghost Story (2017), First Reformed (2017), and The Lighthouse (2019) are all part of a small but growing stable of feature films made in the 4:3 format. While it may seem like an outlier, I’m Thinking of Ending Things isn’t the only recent film to use the old Hollywood standard. But where some would now label it an obsolete format, others have recognized that the boxier style may still have something to offer modern audiences. Having traded their old CRTs for plasmas and LCDs, many scoffed at the idea of watching full-screen content on widescreen televisions.Īs a result, both film and TV had abandoned 4:3 almost entirely by the early 2010s. Thus, Academy Ratio became a TV format, with networks clinging to it right up until the early 2000s when HDTV adoption started to take off. The Lighthouse (2019) (Image credit: A24)īefore long, 4:3 was phased out to make room for ever-widening ratios such as Cinerama (2.59:1), VistaVision (1.85:1) and more recently, IMAX (1.43:1). This action is recommended because it allows you to test and verify the transmit and receive ports. To create a physical loopback cable can help to diagnose a suspected hardware problem. When selecting a suitable fiber loopback for the transceiver, we should consider the connector type, polish type, and cable type. Fiber optic loopback testing is the easiest way to ensure that the transceiver works faultlessly. Then we can compare the transmitted pattern with the received pattern to troubleshoot a defective node in the network. Thus, during the testing process, the loopback cable directly routes the laser signal from the transmitter port back to the receiver port. When performing the loopback test, the fiber loopback cable can be directly plugged into the output and input port of transceiver module respectively (the ports at the ends of the connection must be compatible). The former one is to send out laser signals and the latter is to receive signals. As we all know, transceiver module has two ports, a transmitter port and a receiver port. So the common application of loopback cable is Loopback Test.įiber loopback cable is often utilized to check whether the transceiver module is working perfectly as designed. If the data sent out into the loopback plug is identical to the data received from the loopback plug, you can assume that the basic communication functions of the port are working properly. The loopback cables are often used in conjunction with testing software to “loop” traffic right back into the port. The RJ45 loopback cable will negate the necessity to carry a bulky network hub around. If the link LED on your switch is active, it means that the connection is operating perfectly. All you have to do is to simply plug the Gigabit RJ45 loopback into the jack that you want to test or the one you are suspicious about. It looks like a simple plug at first glance, but the compact and rugged design makes it highly portable and usable in the tightest corners. RJ45 Loopback CableĪ Gigabit RJ45 loopback cable is an exceedingly user friendly cable tester. LC loopback cables can be 9/125 single mode, 50/125 multimode or 62. They can comply with the RJ-45 style interface with low insertion loss, low back reflection and high precision alignment. The LC fiber optic loopback cables support the test of transceivers featuring LC interface. To describe this item clearly, I will take LC fiber optic loopback cable as an example, which is one of the most popular cables (as shown in the following figure). Besides, fiber optic loopback cables also can be divided into single mode and multimode fiber loopback. These fiber optic loopback plug connectors are compliant to IEC, TIA/EIA, NTT and JIS specifications. Therefore, fiber loopback cables can be classified by the connector types, such as LC, SC, FC, MTRJ. Loopback Cable Type Fiber Loopback Cableįiber optic loopback incorprates two fiber optic connectors which are plugged into the output and input port of the equipment respectively. There are loopback plugs for many different ports, including serial ports, Ethernet ports, and WAN connections. In a word, it is a connection device that is plugged into a port to perform a loopback test. It provides system test engineers a simple but effective way of testing the transmission capability and receiver sensitivity of network equipment. What Is Loopback Cable?Ī loopback cable is also known as loopback plug or loopback adapter, which is a plug used to test physical ports to identify network issue. The lookback cables can provide a simple and effective means of testing the capabilities of the network equipment, and they are typically used for fiber optic testing applications or network restorations. Do you know the loopback cable can be acted as a test tool in the telecommunication? Absolutely, the loopback signal is used for diagnosing the networking problem. For testing applications, there are many tools for this function, such as visual faults locator, optical power meter, OTDR, etc. Other established YT art reviewers like Brad Colbow and Teoh Yeo Chi have really good things to say (as well as critiques) about these companies' products so you might want to check them out as well. Would I recommend Huion or XP Pen? Definitely. When it comes to drivers and software, both companies have drastically improved in this area. Non-display tablets from both companies on the other hand are much better value compared to what Wacom has. I've read issues with Huion's older devices (specifically the first iteration of the Kamvas series) though these might be just isolated cases or the company might have rolled out fixes for them. They use the same OEM but in terms of build quality and design, I give XP Pen the advantage (it's Artist Pro and Deco Pro series have really great features that helped me make digital art faster). Is its products worth it? As far as I can tell, Huion is a close second to XP Pen. Is Huion one of the companies that does this? Not sure. With that said, there is some truth to what he says about companies trying to influence how reviewers present their products. So for him, it's more of preference and the fact that he can afford Wacom's offerings. My first experience was an incredible and expensive risk, but it’s well worth it.Īaron Rutten has been known to favor Wacom likely because he's been using the company's products for so long. In summary, I’m pretty confident with Huion honestly. My Huion experience may be because it’s newer and there has been years of advancement and feedback put on it, but that’s only a good thing esp for the price comparison. Didn’t enjoy the parallax, the surface was super glassy smooth (it was 2013 for 4 uni courses), and it didn’t feel easy to maneuver and position for comfort since I’m a short petite person (it was on the table with its own stand). I’ve also used Cintiqs before (and Wacom from 2009 before I got the Huion), and my experience with them isn’t too great. I haven’t changed color settings on my Huion monitor, it’s precise from screen to print. No need to change anything, wish I had started with pigment inks at the beginning. Well, to my surprise, pigment ink is EXACTLY how the screen looks like. I reset the color settings because they work differently and would want a base to work with before changing color settings. I switched inks from dye to pigment because my printer ran out of warranty. But the new pen worked well, and it basically solidified me upgrading to another Huion when the time comes. Heck, I was CONSIDERING upgrading instead, because this has paid for itself many times over throughout the years I’ve been using it. I also realized that the problems I had with the first pen WERE problems, and was impressed that a faulty pen lasted this long. That’s, basically my only problem at this point. I also print merch in-house, I had to do a lot of settings with my printer to match, which I’ll get back to later. Worked immediately, didn’t have to change settings and colors matched my IPS monitor pretty close (it wasn’t as vibrant which I preferred when drawing). My PC was new, so I didn’t have driver clashes with my Wacom tablet that I used on my Laptop. I thought these were regular things to expect, so I just let it slide. In fact, I thought my loose pen nib and slightly flimsy charging of the pen (it stops charging at a certain angle but when I touched it it starts to charge again) was just how it was. I decided since the main office was about a 20 minutes walk away from me (also where I got my unit), that if there were problems I could easily just return it or send it for repairs. I came from a Wacom to a Huion, the scary part? I got a monitor tablet as my first Huion. |
